LEROY AINSWORTH CAMPBELL MEMORIAL (LACM)  SCHOLARSHIP  

EDUCATION EMPOWERS A NATION 

• PURPOSE: In loving memory of Leroy Campbell, Ubuntu Academic Excellence Inc. is honored to establish this Scholarship, meant to serve as a beacon of hope and opportunity to future generations seeking change in the world. Committed to the values of equality, equity, and social justice, LACM Scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to students who have demonstrated a strong passion for fostering a more inclusive and equitable world. We  believe that every student, irrespective of their background, has the potential to  contribute to the betterment of society, and hence, this scholarship is open to high school  seniors, or current undergraduate or graduate students who share Leroy Campbell’s  vision for justice, and are committed to breaking down barriers of discrimination. Let this  scholarship not only commemorate the inspiring life of Leroy Campbell, but also nurture  the leaders who will fight for social justice and amplify the voices of those who have been  muted for too long. Together, let’s foster equality, equity, build bridges, and create a  world that Leroy dreamed of.  

• CRITERIA: To be eligible for assistance, a student must be a graduating high school senior, current  undergraduate or graduate student who resides in Ontario, Canada, and intends to  continue their education at a college or university. Consideration will be given to academic achievement, financial need, and record of community service. Consideration will also be given to students who are on an Individual Education Plan (IEP). Additionally, a reference letter is also required. 

• AWARD: Each scholarship will be a minimum of $1,000 annually. Scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis and distributed in equal payments in September and January. Students must continue to attend classes and maintain no lower than 3.0 grade-point average (or equivalent) during this time, or the January payment may be withheld. 

• RENEWAL: This scholarship is not renewable. Previous scholarship recipients cannot reapply.
